CodeVA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing equitable computer science education to all Virginia students by collaborating with schools, parents, and communities. Each year, CodeVA hosts Full STEAM Ahead, an engaging conference for middle schoolers designed to spark interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) fields through hands-on activities and professional interactions.
In 2021, Kishau Rogers delivered the closing keynote, “AI Superheroes: New Rules for Solving the World’s Biggest Problems.” Her talk emphasized that while artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to reshape the future of work and tackle critical global challenges, building effective AI solutions requires much more than technical expertise. Kishau highlighted the importance of combining skills in math, coding, and data with creativity, empathy, communication, critical thinking, and change management. The session inspired attendees to envision themselves in AI careers and challenged conventional ideas about who can solve the world’s most pressing problems.
